Middle School Art

EXPRESSIVE TREES

After a discussion of art aesthetics, students created their own version of a tree.
Rule: branches must touch the sides and top of the page and entire page must be filled with color. Students used twigs as brushes to dip in black tempera paint and paint a tree. (easy clean up!) Oil pastels were used to color in the tree and background. Mixing and blending colors required, and making gradations encouraged. Some students took a realistic approach, others a more expressive one.
